STARFISH CLASS
3m – 10m
An introduction to swimming lessons, our experienced teachers will help you to develop your babies enjoyment and awareness in the water through songs and activities. This is a critical stage if you wish your child to be swimming by the time they are 3.
SEAHORSE CLASS
10m – 24m
Through conditioning activities and fun songs your little swimmer will learn to submerge, to kick and move through the water with your support. This class leads swimmers who have started at 12 weeks and attended consistently to independent lessons by the time they are two and half.
SQUID CLASS
1yr 6m – 2yr 6m
Our Squid class is for toddlers who have had swimming lessons previously from 12 weeks and are confident in the water, submerging comfortably, happy to float on their back and with a carer’s help are kicking and splashing around the pool.
PENGUIN CLASS
2yrs – 4yrs
Penguin class is all about building confidence and independence in the water with a carer. This is great class for children who have had no previous swimming lessons and only experienced water play with a parent, it allows the child to get comfortable with their key care giver this is perfect to nurture nervous swimmers to develop this life skill. Learning to submerge and recover back to an upright position independently, float and swim with a carers support and encouragement to help build the confidence and skills required to swim in an independent class.
TURTLE CLASS
2yrs 6m – 3yrs 6m
An independent class for swimmers that have come through our infant classes and have met the competencies required and are ready to swim in an independent class. This class is not available to enrol directly into without previously swimming in our infant classes for assessment of competencies.
LOBSTER CLASS
Minimum age requirement 3yrs 6m plus
Lobster is our introductory class to independent swimming. Swimmers will learn breath control, floating and to move through the water in a streamline position on their front and back. If your child has had no previous swimming experience or lessons and is under 4 we advise all parents to have a few lessons in our Penguin class to ensure your child will not be traumatised by an independent class.
SEAL CLASS
Existing skills swimmers must have, swim 5-7m with efficient kicking and a long streamline body position on their front independently .
with a floatation aid kick on their back 5-7m with an efficient flutter kick comfortably.
Have basic water skills which enables them to surface to breath independently.
Swimmers will work towards;
Swimming basic freestyle independently with regular breathing
10m of basic backstroke with a floatation aid
DOLPHIN CLASS
Existing skills swimmers must have;
Swim 10m of basic freestyle with regular breathing confidently with a strong efficient kick to power them through the water
Swim 10m basic backstroke with a kickboard confidently and independently
Swimmers will work towards;
Bilateral side breathing for their freestyle
Independent backstroke
Survival Backstroke kick with a floatation aid.
MANTA RAY
Existing skills a swimmer must have;
Swim 15m freestyle with bilateral breathing while maintaining a stable streamline body position and correct head position
Swim 15m backstroke while maintaining a horizontal body position and strong legs to propel them through the water.
Survival Backstroke kick with the correct leg action and flexed feet.
Swimmers will be working on
Building endurance, strength and technique in Freestyle and Backstroke
Breaststroke kick
Survival Backstroke
SHARK
Existing skills swimmers must have;
30m freestyle with good technique
30m backstroke with good technique
Correct breaststroke kick for 15m
15m survival Backstroke
Swimmers will be working towards;
Learning breaststroke
Building endurance and technique to swim a continuous 150m swim with a mix of strokes with confidence and comfortably.
